SIFE FAQ's
- What is CU SIFE?
- Cedarville University Students In Free Enterprise (CU SIFE) is a student business organization on campus. It gives students the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills through learning, practicing, and teaching the principles of free enterprise.
- Who can join SIFE?
- CU SIFE is currently comprised of a majority of business majors, but we encourage all majors to join!
- How man Cedarville Students are in SIFE?
- There are currently about sixty members in our chapter of SIFE, yet we hope to expand that number to ninety by the end of the year.
- If I were to join SIFE, what would I do?
- There are multiple ways you can serve while in SIFE:
- Student Officers:
- 8 positions, held by students of varying majors
- Our leaders strive to serve SIFE members in an effort to encourage people to grow in the business field.
- Marketing Team: helps to plan monthly meetings, as well as other fun events
- Technology Team: helps with the tech side of things, including video, pictures, and our website
- Projects:
- Project Leaders: lead the team for a specific project
- Project Members: help out with projects in fun, hands-on ways

- How will my resume be affected if I join SIFE?
- Just ask Lew Gibbs, the Director of Career Services at Cedarville. As a proud supporter of CU SIFE, Mr. Gibbs knows the impact being a member of SIFE can have on your resume. Employers specifically look for participation in SIFE on resumes, and some companies only hire students that have experience with SIFE. Plus, with the real-world experience you can gain in the business world through SIFE, your resume will be greatly enhanced!
- What is the BAB?
- The BAB is our Business Advisory Board. Our BAB is a compilation of business men and women from our local community and throughout Ohio who support CU SIFE by donating their time, money, and advice to our team. We meet with them twice a year to share ideas with them in an effort to build an even stronger organization.
- What is SIFE Competition?
- SIFE International holds competitions at various levels – regional, national, and world – giving SIFE organizations from all campuses the opportunity to share their project ideas from the year and their passion for the organization, with business men and women and other SIFE members. Teams are judged on seven criterion (Market Economics, Success Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Environmental Sustainability, Business Ethics, Program Sustainability), as well as the impact their projects have on the community. Each year, we compete at Regionals held in Cincinnati.
During the 2008-2009 school year, we won our league at the Regional level, and competed at the National level, with 135 other SIFE teams in Philadelphia. We also were an individual topic finalist in the Financial Literacy category this past year, bringing us home another trophy and cash prize!
